Features of silicon carbide beam
- High strength - the density of silicon carbide is low, the theoretical density is only 3.22 g / cm3, high strength.
- High hardness - in terms of hardness it surpasses corundum and is second only to diamond among abrasive materials.
- Good thermal shock resistance - Silicon carbide has good thermal shock resistance due to its high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of linear expansion.
- Strong resistance to acids and alkalis - silicon carbide has strong resistance to acid corrosion and slightly weak resistance to alkali corrosion. The main reason is the formation of a protective SiO2 film.
- High thermal conductivity - the thermal conductivity of silicon carbide products is very high, typically 40-120 W/m.K.
- Small coefficient of thermal expansion - the expansion coefficient of silicon carbide is small, 1000 ℃, the coefficient of linear expansion is 4.7 × 10-6m/K.
- Strong oxidation resistance - When the silicon carbide material is heated to 1300 ℃, with the thickening of the protective layer, preventing the internal silicon carbide from continuing to be oxidized, which makes the silicon carbide have better oxidation resistance.
