
Description of Refractory Gunning Mix
Refractory Gunning Mix is a refractory concrete block used for repairing thermal installations, applied from a distance by a mechanized method using a spraying machine. Spray coating is an amorphous powdered (particle size from < 0.1 to 3-5 mm) refractory material used for coating or lining application using a shotcrete machine.
Composition of refractory gunning mix
The gunning mix of high temperature stable refractory fillers, finely ground additives, plasticizers, water and binders. The particle size composition of the fillers must be correctly selected and adjusted. Clay and sintering agents are added as required. The properties of the gunning mix depend on the composition and particle size of the fillers as well as the type and amount of binders. When selecting the characteristics of the shotcrete quality before the preparation of the spraying material, we decide on the purpose of the furnace, ladles and other equipment.
Classification of refractory gunning mix
Gunite masses are divided into: fier clay and high-alumina (for repairing the linings of steel-pouring ladles, blast furnace shafts), lime-periclase and lime with carbon additives (for torch gunning of oxygen converters), periclase and periclase-chromite (for gunning the rear walls and arches of open-hearth furnaces, mixers, ladles, smelting units of the Central Masonry Plant), silica (for repairing the silica masonry of coke ovens), etc.
